This message is a reminder of the upcoming September 30th deadline for California-registered manufacturers to report additional state-required information. If information has not been submitted yet, please do so. If brands were designated as confidential or public prior to September 24, please review the brand designations to ensure they are accurate.
The California paint stewardship law now requires PaintCare to submit additional information to CalRecycle, the state oversight agency, on behalf of manufacturers. To comply with these new requirements, manufacturers must log in to their account at www.paintcarereporting.org and follow this step-by-step guide to complete the following actions no later than September 30th:
1. Update company contact information to include the name, title, email address, and phone number of the business principal. Also, provide a physical, mailing, and corporate address, as well as the company website address.
2. Designate the business principal as the contact for the government agency.
3. Review each brand registered with PaintCare and indicate if the manufacturer and brand relationship is confidential (a private label agreement, tolling relationship, or other proprietary business practice exists) or public.
Please note that failure to provide the requested information will result in our inability to comply with the statute’s requirements, and CalRecycle may impose civil penalties up to $10,000 per day per violation to PaintCare and/or the manufacturer.
For manufacturers who designated their brands either public or confidential before September 24, please log back into the system and confirm that all brands are accurately designated either public or confidential. A glitch in the reporting system that prevented manufacturers from properly designating the brand as confidential or private was discovered. The reporting issue has now been resolved.
Please contact Taujuana Davis at (202) 232-2733 or via email at if you have any questions, need to reset your password, or encounter any issues logging in to the website.
Your prompt action is greatly appreciated.
