PaintShare™
Paint reuse means giving away, selling, and/or using up leftover paint rather than recycling it into new paint or some other processing. Reuse is a preferred method of managing leftover paint since it requires fewer resources than other options. It helps divert a valuable resource away from landfills and shares it with the local community. We call it “PaintShare!”
Find a Paint Reuse Site
Good quality, leftover paint is available through some reuse stores and household hazardous waste facilities in some areas. In PaintCare states, the Drop-off Site Locator lists all of our partners that offer reuse paint.
PaintShare™ Giveaway Events
PaintCare gives away leftover paint in good condition to households and businesses at events in some areas. Color options and volumes are not guaranteed, and paint is given away on a “first come, first served” basis.
Reuse Compensation
PaintCare encourages household hazardous waste programs, reuse stores, and others to operate paint reuse programs. To encourage reuse, PaintCare will compensate paint drop-off sites operating a reuse program under a contract with PaintCare.
Local governments that partner with PaintCare may request funding for pre-approved joint outreach activities to promote paint reuse programs.
