The Product Stewardship Institute (PSI) awarded both PaintCare and the American Coatings Association (ACA) its Corporate Stewardship Excellence Award which “celebrates industry leaders who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to product stewardship and environmental sustainability.” It was given on the occasion of PSI’s 25th anniversary celebration at their biannual conference.
This honor is particularly meaningful given the strong relationship between our organizations going back to the beginnings of PSI and PaintCare. PSI’s founder, Scott Cassell, played a key role in hosting a set of dialogues between ACA member companies, local government officials, and stewardship advocates. Agreement on a plan for stewardship program surely didn’t come easy, but persistence led to positive outcomes. The first PaintCare program was established soon after in Oregon 16 years ago, and now we’re up to 12 state programs plus the District of Columbia.
PaintCare and ACA have maintained memberships with PSI, we have collaborated with PSI on research projects, partnered on outreach, and generally provided each other ongoing support. So this is truly a moment to be proud and grateful for recognition from a close and special partner.
