On October 25, the Maryland Department of the Environment approved PaintCare’s program plan for Maryland, allowing the program to begin on April 1, 2026.
The Maryland fee structure will be based on container size as follows:

| Half pint or smaller | $0.00 |
| Larger than half pint up to smaller than 1 gallon | $0.50 |
| 1–2 gallons | $1.15 |
| Larger than 2 gallons up to 5 gallons | $2.25 |
Manufacturers are strongly encouraged to communicate with their dealers and customers in Maryland about the PaintCare fee and the program start date. Distributors and retailers should prepare to see the fee on invoices from their suppliers and should prepare their billing and point-of-sale systems to pass on the fee to their customers.
