A law expanding the PaintCare program in Connecticut to include aerosol coatings that recently passed the General Assembly was signed into law by Governor Ned Lamont on June 2.
Senate Bill 147, also now called Public Act No. 26-107, requires that aerosol coatings products are registered with the stewardship program, that a PaintCare fee is added to their purchase price, and that educational materials regarding the program are provided to consumers of the products. PaintCare has until July 1, 2028, to develop and submit a revised program plan to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Updates about the program plan, date of implementation and the development of a fee structure covering the management of aerosol coatings will be provided in a timely manner as they develop.
